You care how the finished thing works, not just how it looks on screen. You want a say in the decision, not a task handed down already made. You would rather ask the question on day one than redo the work later. And when someone in a meeting pushes back on a number you sized, you can walk them through your logic without getting rattled.

We're looking for an HVAC Designer in Raleigh, NC.

If that reads like you, keep going.

Why Work With Us

We're driven by a passion for creating healthier spaces through cutting-edge air systems to enhance environments in schools, hospitals, labs, and beyond. That is the work. It is also the reason this seat exists.

We are working toward being the contractor of choice for even the most complex jobs by 2035. That happens because we do it right, we finish the job, and we back what we build.

Four values guide how we show up.

Adapt and Conquer means change does not scare us. It fuels us. In this seat, that looks like staying sharp when a parameter shifts mid-design and finding the better way through.

Bring the Heat means showing up fired up and creating the energy that pushes the job to the next level. In this seat, that is the person who keeps the model moving daily instead of in bursts near the deadline.

Build Strong Relationships means we are here for the long haul, treating everyone with respect and building trust that stands the test of time. In this seat, that is how you handle the engineer of record, the client, and the trades you coordinate with.

Own the Process, Own the Outcome means taking responsibility for every step. In this seat, that is a document set the shop and the field build straight from, with no open questions left behind.

If that is a place you want to show up to, read on.

Please Don't Apply If

You want a task handed to you already decided.

You wait until a deadline is close before the work starts moving.

You get quiet when someone in a room knows enough to push back on your numbers.

You send a set out without checking it a second time.

You would rather trace an existing model than build one from a blank page.

You skip the conversation and hope the conflict sorts itself out.

Our Ideal Applicant

You want the blank page. Given the airflow, the velocities, and a set of parameters, you would rather decide how the whole system lays out than pick up where someone else stopped.

You take pride in a drawing someone can build straight from. When the crew opens the set, the answer is already in it.

You defend your numbers to a room that knows enough to challenge them, and you enjoy that conversation instead of dreading it.

You solve the conflict yourself when you reasonably can. When you cannot, you escalate with a specific ask, not a shrug.

You ask how it gets built before you finalize how it looks. The shop and the field are part of who you are designing for.

You write down what got agreed to in a meeting and send it back so nobody remembers it differently later.

You keep your own work in order. Anyone on the team can find the current version without asking you first.

You pick up a new system fast and use it without hand-holding.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Designing air systems from a blank page

You start with the airflow and velocities the project calls for and build the ductwork routing, the system layout, and the equipment selection from nothing. Nothing gets traced off an existing model.

Duct gets sized. Airflow volumes and capacities get set. Equipment gets picked to match the parameters the engineer of record hands over on day one. The finished design holds up when a client questions it, because the numbers behind it are defensible.

Turning load calculations into a complete system

Someone else produces the load calculations. You take those completed numbers and turn them into a full air system in the model, sizing duct and laying out routing so the design carries the loads the calculations call for.

The translation is exact. A completed set of calcs always has a matching, buildable air system design behind it that the project team can trust.

Clearing trade conflicts inside the model

You coordinate with the electrical, plumbing, and architectural teams so routing and space conflicts get resolved in the model, not on the job site. Multi-trade drawings get reviewed and integrated so the air system fits the space it shares.

When a collision shows up, you clear it if it can reasonably be cleared, and escalate to the general contractor when it cannot. The field crew installs to a model that already accounts for everyone sharing the space.

Putting out construction documents that stand on their own

You produce complete construction document sets that the shop and the field can build from directly. Every set reflects the final air system design, the resolved trade coordination, and the sizing decisions behind it.

The documents are accurate enough that the people building from them do not have to re-check the work or chase gaps.

Sitting with the client through preconstruction

You work directly with the engineer of record and the client through preconstruction. You attend design meetings and help shape the air system before it is locked in. You assist with equipment selection alongside the preconstruction and project management team, and you independently size and lay out air systems in partnership with the client.

This includes travel, averaging about one in-person meeting a month. The client sees us as a design partner during preconstruction, and the air system that comes out of those meetings is one everyone agreed to and can build.

If that is the seat you want, hit Apply.

Qualifications

3 to 7 years of HVAC design experience on commercial and industrial projects.

A background in sheet metal design.

Proficient in AutoCAD for air system design and construction document production.

Proficient in Revit for air system modeling. Training is available for the right candidate.

A working command of airflow, capacities, loads, and duct sizing at a level that holds up to client scrutiny.

Experience selecting HVAC equipment against design parameters and project requirements.

Experience coordinating routing and space with electrical, plumbing, and architectural trades.

Comfortable working directly with an engineer of record and a client through preconstruction.

Able to travel by air for in-person preconstruction meetings, averaging about one trip a month.

Based within 45 to 60 minutes of the Scarborough or Raleigh office, or open to eastern U.S. remote arrangements.

Compensation and Benefits

$90,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.

If you want the blank page, the room to make the call, and a set of drawings you are proud to put your name on, we want to meet you. Hit Apply and let's start the conversation.
